She still looked cute.
Cute but tacky…I guess that’s Mitsumi for you though. ^^;
Mitsumi got that unique country girl swag lol
she def put her own twist on it with that hat and high socks hahah
veryyy that overall dress is very much in style currently
I actually liked the first set.
Ah good, I'm not alone XD
most likely they had to compromise cause Nao-chan surely wanted her to dress all fashion like and she rejected it cause she thought Nao was dressing her for a date
She was cute, though.
Poor Mukai. Got dumped while on the phone lol
Glad Mika really came back. We now know the back stories of most Mitsumi friends and now their characters make a lot of sense. Kurume while watching the movie, though. I don't know whether she already passed out or just doesn't give a f*ck lol
And now we know why Shima quit the entertainment industry. It's not quite what I imagined but it must weigh heavily on his mind. Can't wait to see how the situation will play out.
Damn those entertainment industry workers drinking with under age kids smh lol
THis is exactly how the entertainment world is ! they do whatever the fk they want with infinite money and clout. I dont like the dramatization of oshi no ko about the entertainment industry, the fact will remain they enjoy far more benefits, love and money than any normal guy and dont have nearly as many problems as a normal person ? getting hate online well fk you , have the entertainment people ever had to worry about feeding their family or themselves , or having to work extra to keep their job?
hey man, I know its not what you might want to hear, but pay close attention to Mika's character and attitude these past few episodes. Your comment and her mindset are oddly similar (self-reflection!!)
you can only say that because you're not experiencing it yourself. Don't be naive, everyone has their own problems, just different
I understand that , but id rather have their problems than mine , I think atleast.
There are perks & disadvantages of being famous, perks is you get rich and receive praise and love from your followers …period
Disadvantage is you become centre of attention for every little thing, no privacy, , tons of limitations, countless judgements from people who you don’t know etc
It’s up to you to decide which side weighs heavy enough imbalance it.
People join entertainment for following reasons : Talent from childhood, not excelling in academics or sports, to gain fame & become rich, and it being their dream.
Problem is...
Oshi no Ko is not a dramatization.
It's a very much real depiction.
Not 100% of course, but it's pretty close.
Your statement doesn’t hold true for many. Not everyone in entertainment industry has money to pour on street, some are struggling and doing part times, shady works etc. it differs from country to country. I know few people who are struggling meet ends, debts. Of course there are people who still being loaded, rich get miserable and end their lives….in the end money doesn’t buy happiness and being happy doesn’t mean you are rich
Oshi No Ko might be dramatic, but it's not unrealistic. "Entertainment industry" is pretty broad. Most people in the industry aren't the headlining celebrities, it's everyone else. Not to mention Japan and the US's industries are quite different, you're clearly talking about the US.
You're this close to actually projecting
Lol that moment with Mukai was funny "I'll eat it like hell", his mother is going to be flattered but confused as to why he's eating with such gusto and vigor.
Mother be like: So... how was school today?
lol
We learnt quite a bit about Shima this episode regarding his family and what his relationship with Ririka is like. I was surprised his younger brother was 3 years old but it became clearer when it was implied that his brother is actually his half-brother. It appears that he probably doesn't feel like part of the family which is sad.
However, I am glad Mitsumi was pushing him to still gift his brother with a souvenir, I'm sure his brother would be happy to receive it and by doing these kinds of gestures will help not stunt their relationship as brothers in the future.
The bigger reveal was regarding that scandal that Egashira saw online, I did not like how judgey she was being but I will touch up on that later. It was interesting to learn that it wasn't some rumor which I brushed it off as, there was an actual story behind it and I'm surprised Shima was involved in it. I'm sure neither drank any alcohol but they were put in a position where truth or lie didn't matter and it sucks that she has to walk on egg shells in terms of her career.
I really do not appreciate how she is using this as a way to guilt-trip Shima though, Shima himself was a child at that time and probably didn't understand himself what he got himself and Ririka into. I wonder if that's the reason why he ended up quitting being an actor.
Then she also tells him why are you trying to live a happy high school life when I can't comfortably work, that is not a friendship, why would you not want your friend to be happy? If it upsets you that much you shouldn't be in contact with them. But clearly, she's too fond of Shima, I really disliked how she spoke about Mitsumi. I'm sure she and Shima will get caught in a scandal, it's such an easy set up.
Coming back to Egashira being judgey, she was rubbing me the wrong way but then I thought to myself, I am sure I've reacted the same way in the past reading rumors/scandals. What I didn't like was how she spoke badly about Shima even though she knows he's not like that but she eventually she realizes she was just projecting her own feelings. I'm surprised she stalked them though, Nao was another surprise.
I did enjoy the zoo date and the sleepover, they were really sweet. I liked the detail with Mitsumi's messy hair after taking her hat, it just really felt in character that she wouldn't be focused on making sure she looks pretty at all times.
I also liked how Nao made sure to tell Mitsumi to make sure to tell the others that they are biologically male, I appreciated the transparency because it could have made things awkward for the girls and they don't need to on guard.
I already don’t like Ririka.
She using that scandal to control Shima.
NGL, that does sound like blackmailing to me. I already had suspicions about Ririka but now it's definitely confirmed. Hope Shima will be strong and break free from Ririka's grasp. Cause Ririka doesn't deserve a "childhood friend" like Shima for sure!
I think you mean Ririka. :p
Thanks lol
Yeah and Shima feels too guilty to turn her away.
Only Aqua could have done things differently.
I dont really think Ririka is Shima's friend.
like surely they were, but after the scandal and probably the repercussion that she had she is desperately trying to reach out to the happy normality she had before,
and Shima is just a means to an end in that regard. the hold the hand bit is pretty telling in my opinion.
i dont mean that she doesnt want him as friend. it's just that she sees him having what she has not and she's jealous of that, but she's going about it the wrong way cause she's hurt and a bit broken. and instead of asking for help regaining that happy normality she's trying to destroy Shima's, that is still obviously feeling guilty about the whole story.
Also i am sure it's not just guilt that makes Shima's care for her. i am sure he still sees her as a friend, and a friend in need at that, so he naturally wants to help, howerver little he can, because his aloofness that surely stems from his family's troubles prevents him from confronting her openly and honestly.
Shima is a good guy that still doesnt know how to listen to his heart.
that's why hes attracted to Mitsumi, which is undeniably someone that has ZERO qualms speaking her mind and acting towards her goals however grand they can be.
Him being rather uncaring is a defence mechanism, cause if you dont value anything much, you cant be hurt when it gets taken away.
he's gonna have a hell of a time dealing with Mitsumi because of this, i kinda already see him refusing to coming to terms with his attraction out of fear, and involuntarily hurt Mitsumi in the process.
As for Egashira, her infatuation is superficial and she just thinks that having a popular boyfriend will let her accept herself as worthy of existing (cue probably superstrict parenting). but she'll soon come to realize that that kind of affirmation can only come from within.
she's no match for speak-from-the-heart Mitsumi in that race, but her character arc will most likely turn her away from seeing Shima as a romantic interest.
The other two girls have already had their mini-arc in some way, so they will be used as a measure of comparison against the other, more flawed characters, and i am sure blondie (forgot her name sorry) will someday have a stern talk-to with Shima. (as she's the only one that has the social skills and is connected enough to both Mitsumi and Shima to wade in what it seems will inevitably ensue when the fragile status quo finally breaks)
at least this is my perspective on this. author may choose differently, but a plot is like a game of chess. only some moves make sense.
Frankly, from what I collected from this episode (and the fact that all the related information we got was in this one episode) I'm a bit worried there's something more to what happened on that party where Shima took Ririka.
I wouldn't be surprised if the 3 years old 'brother' Shima talked about is actually Ririka's child and she got pregnant on that party.
Possible with Shima's dad or older brother (he didn't mention).
Being heartbroken because of what happened made him quit acting, Ririka had to stop modeling for a few years (hence returning after 3 years), Shima's guilt trip towards Ririka and the complicated family situation.
I definitely don't want this series to go this route, but in my opinion, it's not an impossible outcome.
I think you're overthinking it.
Nah man. there would be a totally different dynamic between those two if a kid was involved. and Shima may be aloof but he doesnt look like he can be a deadbeat dad.
I didn't mean Shima himself having the kid.
But his relative, hence, the remark about half-brother.
Even if they did drink, it sucks that one mistake in sixth grade can mess up people's lives like that...
Showbusiness is like that sadly. Regardless of your age all it takes is one big scandal, whether its based in truth or lies and it can be enough to damage your career permanently. All you need for a real world example is the whole Depp v Herd (Turd) scandal. It was proven to be horseshit and actually the complete inverse (she beat him, not the other way round) but not before he was sacked from the pirates franchise, Fantastic beasts and blacklisted by WB and Disney over it. Thats millions of $$$ in earnings for a AAA actor and years of work flushed for a lie.
Yet apart from offering him work after the truth came out (so they could profit off him again), neither has apologised for wrongly dropping him.
Showbiz is cruel, competitive and unforgiving, especially thanks to the rumour mill and soulless ghouls who make up the paparazzi
Date with covert spectators
"Covert spectators" is a nice way to put it lol.
Nice way to say stalkers lol
Nao chan is such a caring character!! .we now know shimasuke backstory as well..And mitsumi being supportive friend as always.
also her dress is cute lol
Nao was the MVP this episode
Best boy…...girl? lol
girl. she's trans :]
Didn't you watch? Nao's just a crossdresser, that doesn't mind being called either pronouns.
I hope you don't take this the wrong way but no, I don't just watch, I also read. She is canonically a trans woman, and she only changed the way she presented herself when she was spying on Mitsumi or else she will be found out. She never openly dresses as "male." And if you are asking me if I did watch, do you remember the train scene when the girls were calling her a man - but Mitsumi distracted her ("is this better?") from paying attention?
Also, being transgender does not require transition surgery. She is also referred to as auntie and never uncle (unless spying on Mitsumi) Besides, why else would she say she's biologically male - it means she perceives that her gender as female but biologically, she is not.
MANGA SPOILERS:
In the Manga, she specifically says "I wish I could be a pretty girl who wears pretty things like you.
Sorry if I sound very defensive, I just hate trans rep erasure because I am trans myself.
I can't say for sure, but people that cross-dress don't usually change their pronouns - so I think in this case Nao is most likely trans. The only reason I'm doubtful is because there has been no mention of any transition surgery or anything, she just plainly said she's biologically male 🤔
Tuesday with Skip and Loafer and Kubo San
Yeah
I love the dance shima and mitsumi do together in the op IT IS SO CUTE
Yes me to. It's my favorite opening of this season
Judging by the result, I guess Nao really did let Mitsumi coordinate her own clothes for the zoo date in the end…😅
